Is It Really that Important?
Homosexuality, the sexual attraction between persons of the same gender, a preference, and apparently a reason to be hated and scorned by those who fail to consider anyone else but themselves. Though many persons may not agree with the lifestyle, the discrimination of homosexuals - simply because they choose to live life differently - is blatantly inhumane.
Every year on May 17th is the International Day Against Homophobia which "is a rallying event offering an opportunity for people to get together and reach out to one another," as stated on their French website. No one deserves to beaten, cursed or killed because they live a different life and prefer different things. If a person has found love, why is it considered dirty, an abomination, a sin?
The Homophobic members of society always have the same arguments:
The religious perspective of homophobia, when analysed, are shown to not be as righteous as they are preached. "Their religion mandates hating gays. Strangely, many do. People who accept their religion without question just follow along because they think if their god hates gays, so they should too," once again extracted from MyPrideShop.com, enlightens us on how those of some religion claim their god hates homosexuals. Most of these claims are made by Christians, declaring how God hates homosexuals, but in their bible, Jame 4:12 states, "There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?" The contradiction is blatantly seen.
How is a person deemed mentally unstable due to their love interests? If that is the case, if I do not agree with who you love, you are have a mental illness - I'm not the one jumping the gun or anything... Have people really started calling homosexuals crazy? Has it really scared persons so much that it has reached the point of insanity? Mankind seems to fear what they can never comprehend and make others appear to be out of their minds.
And then their is, of course, the argument of children. Society tells us that the homosexual community has a terrible impact on the kids, especially in the mass media, but I must quote:
Persons also seem to ignore the fact that the simplest explanations can solve the biggest mysteries. Having the proper and mature answer to questions as sensitive as people claim them to be can a child from growing up with the same inconsiderate and degrading mentality as many others. "Just tell your kids they are 2 people who love each other. There is nothing bad in that. That is all that you and your kid need to know. It is no business of yours to imagine about and pass judgment on what goes in their bedroom," also extracted from MyPrideShop.com.
We, as a society, as a people, have been separated by enough categorizing and discrimination - wealth, religion, intelligence, race, colour - why must we divide ourselves further?
