In a class of over thirty students, it can be difficult for that one student who is struggling to keep up. In these sensitive situations it is the duty of the teacher to assist that child in any way he/she can. All kids learn at different speeds and definitely in different ways, a good teacher must be able to identify these differences and utilize the correct method of teaching. Students who are falling behind "may perceive that they do not “belong” in the classroom setting — a feeling that can lead to decreased participation, feelings of inadequacy, and other distractions," stated and article from Yale Center for Teaching and Learning. It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength. -  Maya Angelou Student and educational diversity runs deeper than assisting struggling students, it is about allowing all students to have the same number of options as any other student. I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls.  - Martin Luther King Jr. Racism has to be one of the most disturbing topics to cover. As a black female in such an unforgiving world, it unnerves me to no end to know that such a hatred can arise because of the colour of your skin. Racism originated from the years of slavery, it was the way that the whites retained the psychological chains on the black community - which still remain until this day. "Racism is more than what is in the heart of an individual person at the moment of a particular act. Racism is the cumulative history of all those thoughts and acts. They add up to a pattern in which people of color are routinely and systematically treated differently than white people," expressed an article from TIME.  Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It's just plain wrong. -  Muhammad Ali

The concept of religion is a rather sensitive matter. It holds immense power over many people, how they see the world and how they are seen by the world. Religion can separate or bring people together, especially when it comes down to morals and belief. Persons should not be divided based on their beliefs. "Scholars distinguish seven aspects of religious traditions: the doctrinal and philosophical, the mythic and narrative, the ethical and legal, the ritual and practical, the experiential and emotional, the social and organizational, and the material and artistic. (Smart 1996) Religious traditions differ along all these dimensions. These are the undisputed facts of religious diversity," stated the   Religion divides us, while it is our human characteristics that binds us to each other. - Hermann Bondi Religion should not be a rational reason to dislike someone, for we ourselves don't undoubtedly know if our very own religion is true; we have faith and so do others

Is It Really that Important?

Homosexuality, the sexual attraction between persons of the same gender, a preference, and apparently a reason to be hated and scorned by those who fail to consider anyone else but themselves. Though many persons may not agree with the lifestyle, the discrimination of homosexuals - simply because they choose to live life differently - is blatantly inhumane.  Every year on May 17th is the International Day Against Homophobia which "is a rallying event offering an opportunity for people to get together and reach out to one another," as stated on their French website. No one deserves to beaten, cursed or killed because they live a different life and prefer different things. If a person has found love, why is it considered dirty, an abomination, a sin? Marriage should be between a spouse and a spouse, not a gender and a gender. - Hendrik Hertzberg The Homophobic members of society always have the same arguments: It's unnatural Who decides what natural is? &
